Water - is the beginning and the basis of all living creatures on Earth. It is the main element of hydrosphere, appearing in water vapour and identifying geological processes on Earth. Water is related with all the diversity of living creatures on our Planet. Every organism requires water as much as air or food. Water is present inevery cell of human body: bones and hair – under 20%, in nerves, kidney and muscles - 75%, in blood - 83% mass of a body. Given the body mass of 80 kilogramms weighted average of water quantity makes around 40 liters, 25 out of which - extracellular fluid.

That is why over hundreds of years the quality of drinking water explains both good and bad health state of people. Well-known scientist Lois Paster said: “We drink out 80% of all our diseases”. It’s worth thinking about it.

The main concern is that during the last years in Ukraine there is almost cut off any enlargement, construction or setting into operation of the new facilities for water supply and sewer systems. At the same time the capacity of the water pipelines is growing.

- There is more than 1 billion people who lack the pure drinking water;

- Ukraine receives 50% of all necessary water from abroad;

- During 1990 - 2000 the number of inhabitants in the world increased by 4 times, and the water consumption volume – by 7,5 times;

- According to experts’ calculations a man needs 20 liters of water per day. However 1.1. billion of people use only nearly 5 liters per day;

- Considerably bigger number of people dies of diseases caused by the dirty water consumption than of HIV and malaria all put together. Particularly it concerns children: nearly 2 million of children die each year because of the water problems;

- Every 8 seconds in the world a man dies because of the poor quality of the drinking water. Every day for this reason 34 thousand people die, mainly children;

- Average daily water consumption per one urban Ukrainian constitutes 320 liters per day, while in the biggest cities of Europe - 100-200 liters.
